The next big thing for PvP :: Tournaments !!
The Idea is basically:
A new outpost on the Battle Isles. One for all types of tournaments.
Where a new tournament start every 1, 2 or 3? hours and every team in all districts of this "Tournament Outpost" that is ready (pressed 'Enter Battle') is entered into the tourney.
Most tournaments would be single-elimination, with rounds not longer than 10 minutes.
Rewards: Faction, Fame or a new title, a Reward Chest for the winning team like in HoH, but possibly with lots of different types of things dropping from them and with 1 guaranteed item for each party member.
A list of all tournaments starting in next 48? hours would be displayed somewhere, at an NPC there or available anywhere in a window from a new menu option. So guilds have some time to prepare.

"06.11 02:00pm :: 1+3v1+3 'Sunspear Arena' *Heroes Battle* *Fame 0 *Faction x2
...Win: Obsidian chest"
"06.11 03:00pm :: 10v10 'Scarred Earth' *Obelisk Domination* *Fame 15-7-3-3
...Win: something new and cool" ~~a new gametype using an old map
The list would be generated randomly from a pool of possible tournament setups.
This would be The Place for :
*team fights with different party sizes, from 3v3 to 10v10
*Sealed Play Tournaments in-game! This is the only way i see them added.
*All kinds of new but very narrow pvp modes that can't be added to the game now as because they're not worth creating a separate permanent outpost for them.
*Special Weekend events may replace all tournaments with a new one, starting every 10-20minutes
Add this kind of tournament engine to the game would be a first step, then the possibilities are endless!!
Whole idea is relatively easy to implement, i believe. Thats because most of the content needed is already in the game, and more interesting additions could be made later...
...Like the in-game sealed play events, I'm still waiting for. That would be awesome!
It's just a matter of designing an interface using which a team build could be made using the randomly generated skill set. If simultaneous work on the skill pool by many players is really too hard to implement, make it so that only a team leader can assign skills to players in team, but everyone sees the whole pool and who got what - to be able to discuss the builds as they're made.
